Our unique story

Finca El Moral is an exclusive retreat in the Valle de Aridane that brings together family history, the memory of emigration and the unique landscape shaped by recent volcanic activity on La Palma.

Its origins can be traced back to the island’s long history of emigration to Cuba and Venezuela in the 19th century, a period when thousands of people from La Palma crossed the Atlantic while maintaining a deep connection with their homeland. This connection gave rise to Plaza de España in Los Llanos de Aridane, where, in 1863, Canary Island emigrants sent Indian laurel trees that are now part of the historic heart of the municipality.

In this same setting, the Plaza de España kiosk was established by the family as a meeting place for generations, where news, letters and memories were shared between La Palma, Cuba and Venezuela.

Years later, driven by the determination of families returning from their intergenerational journeys through America, to move forward, Finca El Moral emerged in Todoque, transformed over decades into tourist accommodation and a welcoming place for travellers seeking to discover La Palma in an authentic setting.

In September 2021, the eruption of the Tajogaite Volcano, one of the most significant natural events in the recent history of the Canary Islands, transformed the landscape of the Valle de Aridane. Between 21 and 23 September, the lava flow advanced through Todoque and reached the surrounding area of the finca, significantly altering its landscape.

This natural phenomenon has given rise to a new way of experiencing the destination: volcanic tourism on La Palma, where nature, history and the transformation of the landscape become part of the traveller’s experience.

Today, Finca El Moral is being reborn as a modern and elegant tourist complex, where contemporary architecture coexists with the memory of the volcanic landscape and the island’s cultural identity.
